Jason Wernex is a certified safety professional and Ameren's senior director of safety and health. His experience encompasses more than twenty years in the safety arena, including the utility, nuclear, transportation, explosives and manufacturing business sectors. Jason's responsibilities include leading a team of safety supervisors, industrial hygienists, nurses, instructional designers, trainers, fire safety engineers and administrative professionals.

Ameren employs more than 8,500 co-workers to power the quality of life for 2.4 million electric customers and more than 900,000 natural gas customers across Missouri and Illinois. 

Jason's efforts are focused on enhancing Ameren's safety performance and leading efforts to standardize best practices across the various disciplines and legacy companies that comprise Ameren. Jason facilitates alignment between the company's board of directors, its senior leadership and across its workforce to guide the culture's evolution beyond "rules-based" and towards "values-based" safety performance. Jason and his team are also working to strengthen collaboration between company leadership and the leadership of the more than 20 unions representing Ameren's skilled craft professionals.  

Jason and his wife Deanna are the proud parents of four children. He is also a Six Sigma green belt and a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers.
